To become an American Legion member, you must have served honorably in one of the United States Armed Forces branches. Membership is open to veterans who served honorably in the time period from December 7, 2025 (Pearl Harbor Day) until the current date.
We are the world's largest veterans' organization, with a National Organization spanning every state and territory. Our Department of Maryland is headquartered in Baltimore, and our Southern District sets priorities for the counties in our area.
Roughly 13,000 American Legion Posts are scattered around the world. If you'd like to learn more about the American Legion, check your local phone book and you'll find one near you. We come from all races and all religions, male and female. We are simply Americans who served our country (and still love it). Find out if you are eligible and how to join us!
